Terracotta
The Vin et Terre jars are not coated with any coating in order to ensure direct contact between the wine and the material, thus promoting significant and natural micro-oxygenation.
Each piece is hand-assembled using the coil method, which helps prevent air bubbles and strengthens the structure. This also creates a unique piece, meaning no two jars are alike; shapes, capacities, colors, and volumes may vary slightly depending on the potter.
Terracotta produces silky wines with velvety tannins, respects the grape variety, preserves the quality of the fruit and the authenticity of the aromas.
The Tuscan clay of PDO Impruneta is unique due to its mineralogical composition thanks to the presence in large quantities of a calcareous residue called in the jargon: "Galestro" (clayey schist, easily crumbly, very well known in the Tuscan Apennines.)
The composition of our clay is as follows*:
If 41% | Al 17.54% | Ca 20.90% | Fe 11.83% | K 3.13% | Mg 4.56% | LAW 1.04%
